Suspension

Suspension of the Ducts

The weight of the METU-FORM ducts and fittings is comparable to the common spiral ducts and fittings used in the HVAC industry, as they are usually made of light gage sheet metal (thicknesses between 0,7 mm to 1,2 / 1,5 mm).

It is up to the installer to decide how to fix the air-ducts taking into consideration parameters such as:

Suspension and fastening possibilities of the building structure.

If the building structure has to support other elements or loads.

If there are additional loads to be supported by the air-ducts (accumulation of liquid, oil residues, condensation, persons performing maintenance work).

For vertical installatios it is absolutely necessary to secure each individual segment. This is especially important in the presence of oil-mist or machinery coolants.

Half rings should be used whenever possible, as they allow adjusting the height thanks to bolts and tie-rods on both sides of the ducts.

Normally sound and vibration isolators should be used. The SI Isolation Hangers facilitate the installation as they allow to measure the load on each suspension point (the weight can be read on a scale) while providing at the same time the required sound isolation.

Due to the wide range of possible situations more specific information or instructions can regretfully not be provided.

Proper Fastening

Make sure that the ducts are secured properly on both sides of the fittings. Stress factors, such as weight (illustrated by the yellow arrow), could open the seams (red arrows) and lead to instability and leakages.
