Problematic Cases

Access Doors with Frames vs. METU Access Doors

When access doors with a frame are installed outside a non-insulated ductwork (1):
They stick out and might even be dangerous
because of the sharp edges (2).

When access doors with a frame are installed flush (1)
on a non-insulated ductwork (2), they may create turbulences,
vibrations, noise generation and the accumulation of dust or dirt.

When access doors with a frame are installed on outside
insulated ducts (1), their frame creates a thermal bridge (2)
even if the cover itself is insulated (3). These doors provide
consequently poor insulating properties.

The installation of access doors with frames is more complicated, since one has to:

- Apply a sealant around the opening

- Fix the frame on the duct wall with rivets or screws.

By comparison, METU's insulated access doors are much easier to install and offer practically no thermal bridges.
